INFORMATION

Alexandros Giannakis III abandoned a career in Marine Transportation Management and International Business in order to follow his true passion - photography. His first steps into the field were shown to him by his father, Georgios, when Alexandros was only 14 years old. Georgios presented him a manual AGFA German camera and told Alexandros: “When it’s sunny, you use 125 Speed and 11 F-Stop, and when it's cloudy you use 60 Speed and 8 F-Stop." Georgios was not a photographer himself; in fact he was a civil engineer, but he taught Alexandros enough that day to begin a hobby, which would, years later, become the passion of his life.

Alexandros is fascinated by dance photography, which he started shooting while he was still in Greece. In New York he mastered the field. He has worked with major dance companies in the city, as well others cities around the world. His pictures have appeared in major dance magazines. Alexandros was also the official photographer of the ELAN awards.

In his career, he has also worked with lots of musicians and record labels, doing a large number of artist portraits and CD covers.

In recent years, Alexandros has been doing fashion photography, which was always his ultimate goal. He has worked with various magazines, both online and print, as well as numerous fashion designers and stylists. He is also a published cover photographer.

Exhibitions: Alexandros has done six individual exhibitions on Dance photography. Five of them were held in NYC (Fashion Institute of Technology, The French Institute and the Faran Center) and one in Pennsylvania (Bucks County Community College).

He is now working on his seventh exhibition, which he guarantees to be controversial.

Alexandros has also worked on the fields of Interior and Architectural photography and Advertising.
